The research develops starting from photography. The different interpretive levels present in this selection reflect various working hypotheses. Inhabiting memory through images and actions and activating dynamic reading levels are indeed among the recurring elements in the first part of the research.

The physical encounter with photography opens up an investigation into memory, outlined here through various subjects: the house, the family, objects. The body becomes both a space and a tool to disrupt the fixity of the medium, generating an iconic and narrative image.

The interplay between portraiture and self-portraiture serves as a structural element. Photography is a medium for narrating belonging and identity. Copies of the same photographic document are stitched onto the skin using pins, constructing a new new social garment.

The female portrait is enlarged to life size, cut out, and worn. The two identities overlap, coming together to give life to everyday actions within the domestic space—such as waking up, drinking coffee, or working at a sewing machine. Within the time and space of representation, image and imagination intersect, bestowing a paradoxical dimension upon the space.

Although expressed through various media, the research finds its essential focal point and generative model in photography. The photographic image does not duplicate time, but suspends it, transforming oneself into an image. Indeed, this is the only dimension in which that perpetual rift between two-dimensional and three-dimensional, past and present, movement and stillness, can be reconciled.
